Activities

Base yourself at Erwlon to discover the best of this beautiful part of Wales, close to the Brecon Beacons but also in the heart of green Carmarthenshire.

Whatever you want to do Erwlon can provide a great base for the more active tourist! Many of our visitors find that the best way to really enjoy our beautiful countryside is to get out of the car and get active. In order that you can get a flavour of what is available we have tried to a few tasters on this part of our site and are updating it based on feedback from visitors.

Try the "Golden Secrets" cycle route will take you to the National Trust's Dolaucothi and give you stunning views of the valley from a road that only sees about 15 cars a day! Or alternatively go down the Towy valley to the historic gardens at Aberglassney or explore the Myddfai Valley, the original home of herbalism in Britain, 13th century physicians used its herbs, which are said to have originally been a gift from a fairy of the lake Llyn Y Fan Fach. Whatever you believe, the area is still rich in bog plants, herbs and lychens.

Carmarthenshire is hilly enough to promise you beautiful views, and our routes have been planned to make the most of the natural contours so that you can enjoy the scenery and the quiet lanes and byeways will make sure that your are not disturbed by much more than the odd tractor!

For those seeking an Adrenalin kick why not visit BikePark Wales -  the UK’s first full scale mountain bike park in the heart of the South Wales valleys, built by riders for riders.  They have downhill routes for everyone from novice to expert - serene to extreme   - See more here
