2018 Events Calendar

We've pulled together a calendar of events for you to get planning for 2018. Llandovery and the surrounding area have a host of wonderful and wacky event for you to enjoy. From the annual Sheep Festival, Bog Snorkelling at nearby Llanwrtyd Wells to Mountain biking and motor biking events. Take a look at our 2018 events calendar and we'll also be updating this throughtout the year. 

17-25 February - February Half-Term fun - The National Botanic Garden of Wales

Fun and games are guaranteed. 12noon-4pm every day of the holiday

Sunday 25 February - St David’s Celebration Day - The National Botanic Garden of Wales 

A special FREE Entry For all day to honour our patron saint with a Welsh food and craft fair, music, choirs and harps.

Thursday 1 March - St david’s day- The National Botanic Garden of Wales -

FREE entry for all.

Sunday 11 March - The National Botanic Garden of Wales - Mothers’ day 

Free entry for all mums. Bring the most important lady in your life to the Garden to enjoy a special pamper experience plus music and fun.

26 - 29 April - Llandeilo LitFest - Various venues across Llandeilo 

The festival is a four day programme of literary events, during the festival readings, discussions, workshops and literary talks will take place across

19 - 20 May - Royal Welsh Spring Festival - Builth Wells 

The two-day festival, with its action-packed programme of entertainment, have-a-go educational activities, talks, workshops, displays and performances, offers the perfect family day out.

26 – 28 May – Llandovery Carnival 

With the main carnival day taking place on the Monday the 28th.

9 June - Man versus Horse - Llanwrtyd Wells

The annual challenge race where runners go up against horses, who will win this year?

23 June - Dinefwr Food Festival - Llandeilo

Food Stalls from local suppliers in Newton House and Courtyard. Cookery Demonstrations from top chefs. Workshops including chocolate making. Talks from industry professionals. Children's cookery activities focused on having fun with

23 June - Gritfets - Cilycwm

Gritfest is Wales' Premier Gravel Cycle Race - 2 Days of Incredible Riding and Timed Stage in the Spectacular Scenery of Mid Wales.

7 & 8 July - Llandovery Motor Bike Weekend

Bike show, gifts and crafts, live music, children's activities and more

23 - 26 July - Royal Welsh Show - Builth Wells

The pinnacle event in the British agricultural calendar, the Royal Welsh Show, will be held on 23 - 26 July 2018 at the showground in Llanelwedd.

25 August – Bog snorkelling Triathlon, Llanwrtyd Wells

The most unusual in the Triathlon calendar, starts with an 8 mile run followed by 2 lengths of the 60 yard peat bog trench and then a 12 mile mountain bike ride.

26 August - World Bog Snorkelling Championship - Llanwrtyd Wells

33rd World Bog Snorkelling Championships, held annually in Llanwrtyd Wells, an event that Lonely Planet described as one of the top 50 “must do” things from around the world in 2014. Hundreds of participants from around the world and plenty of spectators are expected once again.

22 - 23 September - Llandovery Sheep Festival

Celebrating all things sheep, in the ancient drover’s town of Llandovery. Wool Crafts, Food, Sheep Racing, Sheep Dog Trials, Music, Entertainment, Cookery demonstrations, something for everybody to enjoy

28 October - Cross Mountain - Llandovery

An off-road cycle event open to both Mountain Bikes and Cyclocross bikes. 35km or 50km routes, starting in Llandovery and heading into areas of the Brecon Beacons and surrounding areas.
